Our Vision

Vision is like a road.  It's taking you somewhere. At Deeper Waters our vision is defined by the Lord's name for this assembly.

It's to go further than just the shallows of the Christian life.  It's to walk deeper into the things of the Spirit of the Lord.

It's to possess the excellence of the knowledge of Christ It's to say as Paul said, "For me to live is Christ...".

Our Mission, at Deeper Waters, is a continuation of Christ mission by Christ in us. That mission is stated in Luke 4:18-19:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted and to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. To set at liberty those who are oppressed and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord".  This is the heart of the outworking of salvation  in a person's life and is now what Jesus does through the members of His body, the Church.

The purposes that this assembly pursues, as we walk out the vision and mission of the Lord, is as follows:

To be a House of Worship

Ushering in the living presence of the Father and the Son (1 John 1:3) by the enjoyment of His Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14) who we choose not to hinder in this His house, by stifling or quenching Him.

To be a House of His Word

Established on the solid foundation of the Bible which is a God breathed revelation (2 Timothy 3:14-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13) and a sure prophetic word (2 Peter 1:19).

To be a House of His Heralding

Proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ (Acts 8:5, 1 Corinthians 2:2) and His salvation (Acts 13:26,  Romans 1:16) and His Kingdom (Acts 28:31) to those outside of Christ, in Rochester and beyond.

To be a House of Compassion

Ministering the unconditional love of God to the wounded, to the lost, to the hurting, that they may find restoration under the Savior's care.

To be a House of His Warfare

Taking seriously the revealed reality of Ephesians 6:12 and enforcing the defeat of Satan at Calvary (Ephesians 1:20-23) so that people may understand the true source of things which have oppressed them and find freedom.

To be a House of Revival

Praying unceasingly for a lukewarm church to come alive by the renewal of the Holy Spirit and maintain a first love relationship with their Lord (Revelation 2:4-5).

To be a House of Heritage

Carrying on the legacy of those who came before us that understood the vitality of the Pauline revelation of union life with Christ (John 14:20, 1 Corinthians 6:17, Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 13:5) and the necessity of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8, Acts 4:31) as both a secondary and ongoing (Ephesians 5:18) experience in the believer's life.
